Brighton Park Neighborhood Council (BPNC)School-Based Mental Health Program
BPNC is a community-based, nonprofit organization serving a low-income working class neighborhood on Chicago’s southwest side. The School-Based Mental Health Program provides culturally competent mental health services, such as individual therapy and case management, to at-risk students and families in four area schools. Grant funds will support a Master’s-level therapist so students can overcome abuse and other psychosocial obstacles to their education. www.bpncchicago.org


Casa Central Social ServicesSafe Start Program
Casa Central is the largest Hispanic social services agency in the Midwest. The Safe Start Program provides therapeutic and supportive services to families of children, birth to 5-years-old, exposed to violence. The program uses Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), a relationship-based treatment model that is highly effective in reducing the negative impact of trauma in very young children. Grant funds will support a Safe Start Therapist to help children and their families heal from trauma. www.casacentral.org 


Chicago Child Care SocietyTeen Alliance
Chicago Child Care Society (CCCS) is a 163 year old child welfare agency. The Teen Alliance program provides comprehensive foster care, therapeutic mentoring, and life skills services to adolescent girls with a history of failed foster care placements. Grant funds will support a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to provide clinical supports to both foster youth and their foster parents so that youth can achieve stability and the life skills they need to succeed. www.cccsociety.org 


Chicago Children’s Advocacy CenterAdvocacy Program
The Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center is a partnership between social workers, police, attorneys, and medical professionals to investigate reports of child abuse. The Advocacy Program serves child sexual abuse victims and their caregivers by educating them about the investigation, assessing their stability and needs, and providing referrals for mental health counseling and other services. Grant funds will support a Family Advocate to minimize the negative effects of abuse on victims and their families. www.chicagocac.org 


Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook CountyFamily Support Services
The Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County provides investigative, advocacy, medical, and therapeutic services for child victims of abuse. The Family Support Services program provides specialized assessment and counseling services for children with histories of abuse and complex trauma, and parent counseling for non-offending caregivers. Grant funds will support the Family Support Service Counselors so children can process and heal from their trauma. www.cachelps.org 


Children’s Home and Aid Society of IllinoisOvernight Crisis Care & Prevention Project
Children’s Home + Aid is a child and family service agency serving northern and mid-central Illinois. The Overnight Crisis Care & Prevention Project provides overnight emergency and respite child care services to families with children under seven years of age who are experiencing short term crises caused by homelessness, domestic violence, or other issues. Grant funds will support Overnight Child Care Workers at two crisis nurseries to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect. www.childrenshomeandaid.org 

 
Community Counseling Centers of ChicagoParenting Fundamentals
Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4) is a behavioral health and social service provider. Parenting Fundaments is a multi-component program that includes group-based parenting education and training sessions, home visits, referrals, and ongoing support groups for low-income, at-risk parents. Grant funds will support Parent Educators and the development of training materials for the 0-3 age group curriculum to prevent home violence and strengthen families. www.c4chicago.org 


The Family Defense CenterMother's Defense Education and Advocacy Project
The Family Defense Center is a public interest law office that advocates for justice for families in the child welfare system. The Mother's Defense Education and Advocacy Project provides legal services to mothers and children who are wrongfully separated by child protection authorities, and outreach to women leaders. Grant funds will support program staff to defend mothers so that children are protected from the trauma of separation. www.familydefensecenter.org  


Family Service Agency of Waukesha CountyThe C.A.R.E. Center
Family Service of Waukesha’s C.A.R.E. Center is a child advocacy center that coordinates the response of medical, legal, law enforcement, and social service providers to serve victims of child abuse in Waukesha County. The C.A.R.E. Center provides recorded forensic interviews, forensic medical examinations, and family advocacy for victims and their non-abusing family members. Grant funds will support the Forensic Interviewer and Intake/Care Specialist to aid in child abuse investigations. www.fswaukesha.org  


Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery4th Day Home Visiting Program
The Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is a residential crisis nursery where over-stressed parents in crisis can bring their children when they need a respite from child care. The 4th Day Home Visiting program serves Hennepin County families that are at high risk of child abuse and neglect by teaching communication, coping, and problem-solving skills during home visits. Grant funds will support staff salaries and program costs to help families achieve stability and self-sufficiency. www.crisisnursery.org 


Imagination Theater, Inc.CSAPP Classroom Theater Workshops
Imagination Theater is a nonprofit theatrical group that provides socially conscious participatory theatrical programming. The CSAPP Classroom Theater Workshops teach students important sexual abuse prevention skills, such as saying “no” and reporting to an adult, through role-play and individualized instruction. Teachers also receive training on how to reinforce lessons in sexual abuse prevention. Grant funds will support implementation of the workshops at four Chicago public schools. www.imaginationtheater.org    


Juvenile Protective AssociationHelping Hands - Early Home Visiting Mental Health Partnership
Juvenile Protective Association (JPA) is a social welfare agency founded in 1901 that serves Chicago’s disadvantaged families. The Helping Hands program provides home visits and mental health services, such as mental health screening, psychotherapy, and educational workshops. The program serves high risk families with children from birth to age three in North Lawndale. Grant funds will support a therapist and program costs to increase parent participation and prevent incidences of child abuse. www.juvenile.org 


La Rabida Children’s HospitalTreatment for Young Children Exposed to Trauma and Abuse
The Treatment for Young Children Exposed to Trauma and Abuse program at La Rabida Children's Hospital provides therapy to traumatized young children (ages 0 – 6) and their caregivers from Chicago’s south side. Treatment services are provided through the evidence-based Child-Parent Psychotherapy, which strengthens the relationship between the child and the caregiver, reducing trauma symptoms and decreasing parental distress. Grant funds will support staff members that provide the CPP services. www.larabida.org  


North American Alliance of Child Helplines/BeCause FoundationChild and Youth Text-Based Crisis Counseling
The North American Alliance for Child Helplines (NAACH) is a partnership between the BeCause Foundation and the seven largest helplines in North America. The Child and Youth Text-Based Crisis Counseling program will provide text-based counseling services to children and youth in crisis to access a counselor from any state at any time on any day. Grant funds will support the building and preparation of the alliance network to provide text-based counseling to children and youth across the United States. www.becausefoundation.org 


Teen Parent ConnectionStrong Dads – Strong Families
Teen Parent Connection is an organization focused on adolescent pregnancy and parenthood. The Strong Dads – Strong Families program serves adolescent fathers in DuPage County by providing specialized support such as father focus groups, support and parenting education groups, individual counseling, and referrals to community resources. Grant funds will support program staff to help young families develop a home environment free of abuse and neglect. www.teenparentconnection.org  


The ThresholdsChild Abuse Prevention Initiative
The Thresholds is a recovery services provider for people with severe mental illness. The Child Abuse Prevention Initiative serves at-risk young mothers suffering from severe mental illness and their children throughout Chicago. Program services include individual and group therapy, crisis support, case management, and therapeutic day care. Grant funds will support a Dialectical Behavior Therapist and Supervisor to help mothers increase stress tolerance and coping skills so their children are protected. www.thresholds.org   


Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center – Sexual Abuse Treatment Counseling for Children
The Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center is the only rape crisis center in northern Chicago. The Sexual Abuse Treatment Counseling for Children program serves child sexual abuse survivors from the ages of 3 to 17 and their non-offending caregivers. Survivors receive tailored individual counseling sessions and engage in peer support groups. Services are also provided to non-offending caregivers so they can provide appropriate support to the abused child. Grant funds will support staff salaries and program costs. www.zcenter.org
